In Session w/Adam Moseley (w/video)

Producer Adam Moseley was in the studio working with the band Beck Black. Adam is an amazing producer with a long history of working with some of the biggest artists in the music business dating back to the hay day at Trident Studios in London.

During this session we chronicled Adam while he talks about his recording philosophies and why he likes the new Trident 88 console. He brought a fantastic band, Beck Black, and recorded them live.

The band consists of Beck Black (vocals/keys), Adam Alt (drums), and Mo (guitars).

There was a LOT of video recorded for this session that will be released in the near future by Trident Audio Developments that will feature reviews with Adam as well has recording techniques and a performance by the band. We’ll keep you posted about the release of the video.

In the meantime enjoy some photos and a quick behind the scenes video from Charlie.

Recording with Chad Smith (w/Video)

Recording with Chad Smith (w/Video)

Ultimate Studios, Inc. was recently invaded by Chad Smith and Kevin Chown who were recording for international superstar Tarja Turunen.

Tarja’s music is extremely dynamic with very orchestral arrangements. To match the demands of the music we set Chad up with a late 60’s Rogers Holiday kit with 10″, 12″, 13″ rack toms, 14″ & 16″ floor toms and a 24″ kick. This kit was massive and sounded even more massive!

Working together in Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats, Chad and Kevin have formed one of the most formidable rhythm sections in music. To make this session even better we tracked them together! The way a great rhythm section should be tracked!

“When you have a rhythm section as good as Chad and Kevin they absolutely have to play together. There is simply no other way to do it. Watching them interact with each other in the room and hearing the energy and groove they were creating was simply fantastic. This is exactly why I built Ultimate Studios, Inc!” says engineer Charlie Waymire.

Check out Tarja at: www.tarjaturunen.com and the Bombastic Meatbats at: www.facebook.com/bombasticmeatbats

Check out a short video clip from the session.

Awesome day tracking drums and bass with Chad Smith and Kevin Chown yesterday. Awesome rhythm section!

Duranbah Release New Album – Runaway

Duranbah, brothers Lucas Bomeny (drums) & Leonardo Bomeny (guitar/vocals), have released their new album “Runaway“. Joined by T-Bow Chabosson on bass and a guest appearance by Mateus Asato on guitar the Duranbah’s self-produced, sophmore, release is now available on iTunes and soon to be available on CD.

The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Ultimate Studios, Inc. by Charlie Waymire & Ernesto Homeyer.

“I had a fantastic time working with Lucas and Leo. They are great guys and have some great songs. They were also very prepared which allowed us to track the majority of the parts live as a band with minimal overdubs. Ultimate Studios, Inc Turns 2!

Ultimate Studios, Inc Turns 2!

It was just over 2 years ago when I set out to build a new studio. I had completely outgrown the studio I had in Hollywood and needed a LOT more room. It took us just about 3 months to complete the build including running all the wiring through the walls. It was a HUGE undertaking and I enjoyed every minute of it. Although I do enjoy it much more now that it’s finished! 🙂

A big thanks to Mike Bondra, my contractor, for making this happen. Without him I wouldn’t have a studio. He took my design and made it come to life while at the same time he somehow was able to deal with me and my OCD during the process. We basically spent everyday for over 2 months together and somehow didn’t kill each other!

I also put my partner Ernetso Homeyer to work and without he and Scott Francisco no audio would pass through the rooms. Because of you guys I now know how to wire and Elco patchbay! My gorgeous girlfriend Lizzy Ostro put up with long hours (15-18 hour days) seven days a week and she even helped me hang drywall. She did so much work on the studio that she could probably build one by herself now!

I would like to thank each and every musician, producer, composer, and company that has worked with me at the studio over the past two years. You have helped me make Ultimate Studios, Inc a success and it has been a pleasure working with you all!

Ultimate Studios, Inc Owner, Engineer, and Producer Charlie Waymire

To celebrate the 2 year birthday of the new studio I’m going to post a bunch of photos from the build and add a new one each day on the Ultimate Studios, Inc Facebook page. Here are a few to get started and check the Facebook page each day for more! Be sure to “like” us too!

I look forward to working with everyone to make more great music in 2015!

Good Vibrations Debuts On DrumMagazine.com! (w/video)

Good Vibrations Debuts On DrumMagazine.com! (w/video)

I am stoked to announce that “Good Vibrations”, a new column on DrumMagazine.com, has officially launched! In each installment I’ll discuss how I work with drummers to get a great sound in the studio. “Good Vibrations” is designed to give you a quick look at how I go for a particular sound to fit a session or song. I’ll be working with different artists in each installment, including some familiar names in the industry.

There are plenty of articles all over the internet that talk just about the gear. I want to focus on “why” I choose to use something and how it relates to the other pieces in the setup and, more importantly, the song. Don’t get me wrong, gear is great and I a super gear nerd but at the end of the day the song is most important and that’s how I’m approaching this column. From the perspective of the song, not the recording gear.

The first episode of “Good Vibrations” features a great friend of mine and an awesome Drummer/Producer Mike Avenaim. We filmed this while working together on a new artist that he’s producing named T’Lark. I hope you enjoy!
